January 29, is National Corn Chip Day

Quote of the Day
“There are no corn chip bushes or Cherrios vines on a farm, and spaghetti trees have yet to be discovered.”
Harvey Blatt, ‘America’s Food’ (2008)

Happy National Corn Chip Day

Everyone must be thinking about watching the NHL All Star game tonight!

Game and preparing the snack foods for the game. One popular side dish is the all time corn tortilla chip dishes which is a hit for any party.
The days of making nacho’s as a line cook in my teenage years was like building a mountain of art with tortilla chips, chili, cheese, lettuces, tomatoes, onions, black olives and hot peppers for those who like it hot.
This was a hit seller in a restaurant that closed down years ago in the beaches of east end of Toronto called Scratch Danielle’s, most famous for their chicken wings. Nachos have come a long way……with some restaurants I worked in using real ground beef instead of chili, we also had a chicken nacho with real boneless chicken diced up in small pieces, with enchilada sauce which also was a hit seller. Now a days you can put anything in it just to be creative, like now a days the tortilla companies keep coming out with different flavours to make consumers try something new. You be the judge? Deep fry or bake?
